Mechanical lifting operations - introduction
This training course aims to provide the skills and knowledge to carry out typical water industry mechanical lifting operations in compliance with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
Objectives
By the end of this course the participants will be able to:
- Outline the key requirements of legislation
- Explain the hazards and risks associated with lift
- Identify and select appropriate lifting equipment for typical water industry tasks
- Describe the pre use checks that should be made of lifting equipment
- Describe the examination and testing regime that various equipment should be subject to
- Carryout lifting operations safely
Method
A mixture of classroom based training and practical exercises using typical work based lifting activities
