Objectives
By the end of this course the participants will be able to:
- Explain the purpose of preliminary treatment including: where it fits into the overall treatment process and the implications of not achieving efficient treatment
- Describe methods for removing and handling screenings including: types of screens, types of screening handling equipment, operational maintenance requirements and troubleshooting
- Discuss the principles used for grit removal including methods of removal, operational maintenance requirements and troubleshooting
- Illustrate the methods for controlling and managing wastewater flows
- Express the requirements for compliance with the Waste Management Regulations
Method
Mainly classroom based training with flipchart and practical exercises and discussion. A visit to a wastewater treatment works is included
