Inspection of Plumbing Services for Metering Purposes
This short training course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge to allow metering technicians to ensure that meters are or can be fitted in accordance with BS6700 and comply to the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999.
Objectives
By the end of this course the participants will be able to:
- Inspect internal plumbing systems to ensure that they are suitable for the fitting of an internal meter
- Inspect meter installations to ensure they meet company requirements, meet the standards of BS6700 and comply with regulatory requirements
- Take readings from all types of meter commonly installed internally
- Recognise potential for erroneous measurement
- Carry out simple meter changes
Method
A mixture of trainer led tutorial mixed with practical exercises and activities. An end of course assessment will be used to ensure that objectives have been met.

Anyone involved in the reading, changing or installing internal water meters. Those carrying out surveys for potential installation of internal water meters.
