Objectives
By the end of this course the participants will be able to:
- Design a District Metered Area (DMA)
- Explain the different causes of leakage on networks
- Identify and designate sluice valves as boundary valves
- Interpret measured night flows
- Select meters suitable for district metering
- Prove soundness of a DMA
- Design a step test
- Carry out a step test
- Recognise and control operational risks associated with leakage control activities
- Use a leak noise correlator to pinpoint leakage
- Explain the legal and company position with regard to supply pipe ownership and responsibility for leakage
- Use sounding devices to pinpoint leakage
Method
The course will consist of a mixture of classroom based tuition and practical exercises.
