Leak Noise Correlation Techniques
This training course provides the water industry technician with the skills and knowledge required to use a leak noise correlator to pin point water mains leakage.
Objectives
By the end of this training course the participants will be able to:
- Recognise situations where leak noise correlation is the appropriate technique for pin pointing water mains leakage
- Select suitable leak noise correlation equipment and carry out operational checks
- Identify suitable points on the water network to connect correlation equipment
- Take necessary health and safety precautions to ensure safety of operators
- Use the leak noise correlator in a range of operating modes to pinpoint and confirm leakage
- Mark record and report location of leakage
- Carry out operations in accordance with relevant water supply hygiene procedures
Method
The course will consist of a mixture of classroom based tuition and field based practical exercises.
Pre Course Requirements
Learners should attend equipped with appropriate PPE including head, foot and eye protection plus gloves and overalls.
