Using utility plans
This training course aims to provide learners with skills and knowledge necessary use utility plans to locate and/or avoid utility apparatus during pipe laying activities.
Objectives
By the end of this course the participants will be able to:
- State how maps and plans can be used locate and avoid buried apparatus
- Recognise key symbols on maps and utility plans
- Determine the currency of maps and plans
- Determine the scale of maps and plans and report measurements of distance
- Locate and report locations using grid references
Method
A classroom based training course using a mixture of trainer presentation and practical exercises with maps and plans.
