Andrew Kirkman joins Merit Skills from a brief period of being a home maker.
I have over 24 years’ experience in health and safety, of which 15 years’ in health and safety management, with 7 years in further and higher education, 6 years in training and consultancy work, working primarily with the construction industry.
During my career I spent 20 years in the Royal Air Force Regiment, managing health, safety and training within various areas as well as an area manager. In recent years I have lead and supported in-house and external training sessions in both formal and informal settings from board of directors to the workforce on the ground (topics have ranged from general health and safety to event management, construction and environmental management).
In my new role as a Health and Safety trainer, I will be designing and implementing a fresh drive towards a wide variety of accredited and bespoke health and safety courses as well as picking up centre led and in-house courses.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife and two Tibetan Terrier dogs. My wife and I manage our local social club, providing a centre for locals to come and socialise in a friendly welcoming environment. I am also very keen motorcyclist, spending as much time on two wheels as possible.
I am thrilled to have joined the Merit Skills team and look forward to contributing to the ongoing success and growth of the business for many years to come.
