Water UK have recently published a new version of their Principles of Water Supply Hygiene document.
This document sets out the principles to be considered by water undertakers when drawing up their own operational procedures for maintaining wholesome and safe water supplies. This replaces the last version written in 1996 and offers more comprehensive guidelines than the previous version, including specific reference to requirements for training, competence and qualifications.
The need for competent operators is emphasised referring to "The Competent Operator Scheme" administered by Energy and Utility Skills as well as their National Water Hygiene Scheme and the requirement for those undertaking "restricted operations" to carry a card indicating training.
Training for these and the Mains and Service laying qualifications referred to in the associated technical guidance notes can be provided by Merit Skills.
We also have an open course programme for [EUSR SHEA Water and National Water Hygiene}(/training), which runs throughout the year and is competitively priced.
If these are of interest to you and your company or you would like to discuss the requirements of this document further please do get in touch via info@waterskills.co.uk or 01733 246415.
