The team at Merit Skills had there moment of fame in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph. The team were interviewed to mark the launch of their new company Merit Skills Ltd and the brand WaterSkills.
The article "Water a Great Way to Start a Training Firm" was published on 23rd March 2010.
The launch of Merit Skills and WaterSkills along with the article has been positively received by both customers and industry stakeholders.
The Evening Telegraph wrote:
"It was their desire to do things differently that inspired these technical trainers in the utility market to go it alone."
"Maria Fulluck and Peter Featherstone, in their roles as business directors, and James Bugg, as training manager, had worked for a technical training company, Peter and James with water industry backgrounds, when they decided that a smaller organisation could offer a more cost-effective, high-quality solution to customers."
The interview then turned to their premises in Orton Southgate, Peterborough which provide the team with not only excellent office accommodation but large training and meeting rooms as well workshop facilities.
"In the early days, WaterSkills, a division of the MeritSkills group, will predominate and provide technical training to the water industry. In addition to this Merit Skills will provide high-quality, yet cost-effective Health and Safety training to all industry sectors."
"As the company develops and expands, it will take on the wider utility field, including gas, in keeping with the industry move to multi-utility operations."
"Its training regime is geared to cater for a breadth of individuals, from apprentices to line managers, and organisations. It offers a wide range of off-the shelf-products, while also specializing in development of solutions designed precisely to meet its clients specific requirements."
The evening telegraph described the Merit Skills team as having "years experience in providing training and development to a wide range of customers in the water industry, ranging from multi-million pound contracts to ad-hoc requirements."
"We aim to build on that experience to deliver an honest, cost-effective, down-to-earth service to our customers" said Maria.
"CABWI is the principal awarding body for water industry qualifications. WaterSkills is able to offer nationally-accredited qualifications as a CABWI centre. This adds to the choices available to its customers when deciding on the training required and how best to certify competence.
